Senior Analyst (Irvine, CA) JOB3910

A leading waste industries consultant is currently seeking a Senior Auditor (Associate Analyst or Sr. Associate) in their Irvine, CA. location. We're looking for someone with 3-5 years experience to fill this position.
This full‐time employee will join the team providing a wide range of advisory services to public
agencies.  Initially, this position will conduct contract compliance audits of waste and recycling companies
and communicate results to public agency management.  This position will also provide financial analyses
in support of the other management consulting activities of the team.  This employee will be checking for compliance
within the solid waste industry franchise agreement. This employee will be doing financial analysis and rate studies.

The employee will work primarily in southern California from our office near the John Wayne airport, with
occasional evening meetings and overnight travel.  The position requires periodic visits to client or third‐
party locations, as needed (typically five to seven days per month).
Depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, they will join as either an
“Associate” or “Senior Associate” consultant. There are significant career opportunities for supervisory
and management roles within the firm. 

We are looking for a Senior Analyst but if we are unsuccessful in finding one we will accept candidates for an Associate Analyst.

Reporting to a project manager, this position will provide oversight of public agencies’ recycling and waste
management agreements.  Specific work activities include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Auditing:  Reviewing and auditing recycling and waste industry contractor reports and contract
-  Monitoring performance of contract requirements.
-  Meeting with public agencies and their contractor(s).
-  Reviewing and analyzing fee and tonnage reports submitted by the contractors.
-  Auditing reported data.
- Reviewing customer rate adjustment requests submitted to public agencies.  
- Financial Analysis:  Preparing cost of service and projections of financial results of operations:
-  Obtaining and reviewing historical financial information.
-  Preparing Excel Workbooks with which to organize and analyze data.
-  Preparing calculations of changes to revenues and costs over time.
-  Preparing tabular and graphic summaries of data.
- Communication:  Preparing reports of findings and presenting results to clients.
- Project Administration: Plan, organize, monitor and complete tasks within established project

- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, economics, or math.  The key is for the
candidate to have developed skills to work with numbers and quantitative concepts in an
analytical manner.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills capable of maintaining positive relationships with clients and parties
being audited
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) with superior skills in Excel
- California driver’s license.
- Must be able to write detailed reports.
- Must be comfortable with numbers and writing.
- Must have very strong verbal communication skills.
- Must have exceptional presentation skills

- Master’s Degree in a Related Field, MBA, or J.D. 
- Prior experience in the recycling and solid waste industry in California.
- A licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) with three years of
audit experience 
- Recycling, waste industry, or public agency experience is desirable, but not required.

Company offers a competitive total compensation package while emphasizing work/life balance for our
employees (in 2017, Associates averaged less than 45 hours per week). This is a full‐time, exempt position.
Some highlights include:
- Associate Salary Range of $69,000 ‐ $83,000, depending on qualifications of selected candidate.
- Senior Associate Salary Range of $85,000 ‐ $114,000, depending on qualifications of selected
- Annual Bonus: up to 15% of Annual Salary, performance based.
- Profit Sharing: Minimum 3% contribution to a 401(k) profit‐sharing plan; 2017 contribution was
- Fifteen (15) Vacation days per year (increases with tenure, maximum of 25 days per year).
- Ten (10) Holidays per year (including one “floating” holiday to be used at employee’s discretion).
- Five (5) Sick days per year.
- At least two days of off‐site staff retreats and social events each year.
- Health Insurance: 
-  Company contributes 95% of employee’s premium (and 67.5% of dependent premium) towards

District Manager (Newark, NJ) JOB3908

A leading provider of environmental services including solid waste collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services is currently seeking a District Manager to manage the operations of the hauling site based in Newark, NJ.

This person will manages the day-to-day collection operations of a single site or multiple sites, and establishes and maintains performance and productivity metrics and cost management processes.

Manages the day-to-day operations of the District, and provides daily support to managers in ensuring quality and budget performance.

Monitors budget and operating metrics while diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and performance.

Executes the Market’s strategic capital budget, ensuring effective use of the budget through asset allocation; ensures appropriate spare ratios and asset disposal.

Executes necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with Company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations.

Ensures thorough root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following-up with consistent discipline and retraining.

Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance.  Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.

Formulates both short-term and long-term goals and action plans in conjunction with the Market Area General Manager and/or Director of Operations.

Participates in regular P&L reviews to ensure that budgets are met; develops and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs.

Interacts with local city, municipal, and county agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts and negotiate new contracts; establishes as a good corporate citizen and valued resource.

Engages suppliers in problem solving and participates in suppliers’ improvement processes by providing performance feedback on supplier surveys.

Minimizes the total number of suppliers used by working with Supplier Partners to eliminate/reduce the number of one-time suppliers.

Works with functional groups to resolve employee relations and labor relations issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees.  This includes:

Direct supervision of 6 full-time employees, including: Route Managers, Operations specialists, and a  Fleet Manager. 

Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.

Experience: 3 years of relevant work experience in a role with supervisory and P&L responsibility (in addition to education requirement).

Experience in a position involving at least 2 of the following: operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial, and human resources function, experience as a supervisor or manager;
experience implementing safety (OSHA) programs and equipment specifications,
experience preparing and managing budgets, and experience resolving labor relations issues required.

Base Salary - $85,000 to $100,000 plus bonus

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience as a second level leader. They will be either from the waste hauling or transportation industries where they have managed a site and driver managers. The ideal candidate will have at least a bachelors degree and at least 3 years of experience managing a P&L. Candidates should have experience doing employee performance reviews, and have proven success in developing employees who work under them. A district manager will have good community relationships. This site is union, so an ideal candidate will have had experience working in union environment. The ideal candidate will have come from a company where performance was measured on metrics. The ideal candidate will have implemented safety policies or ran safety meetings. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills to report to the Director of Operations and sometimes the Area VP, but also be able to communicate well with the frontline operations drivers. The ideal candidate will make himself available to start the day as early as 4:00am and stay until the evening.
